WRPM Project of NBI Commences Consultations on Development of the Nile Basin Decision Support System

Needs assessment and consultations on the conceptual design of the Decision Support System for the Nile basin Initiative has started.

In the consultation meeting held with the staff of the Nile Transboundary Environment Project (NTEAP) on Sunday 26/8/07 in Khartoum, Sudan, the DSS Lead Specialist, Dr. Abdulkarim said as a first step in the development of DSS, a consultant, Dr. Aard Hartveld has been hired to carry out needs assessment and conceptual design of the system. The team who are currently in Sudan will hold meetings with the Water Resources Directorate, Dams Directorate, Planning Directorate, Ministry of Energy and Mining, Geological Research Authority of the Sudan, Sudan Electricity Regulatory Authority, Remote Sensing and Khartoum University among others.
