The Egyptian NDF is an active network that involves many NGOs, CBOs, media outlets, women's groups, youth and other civil society organizations (CSOs). The forum covers the Nile Basin communities across the country from South to North.

The NDF has elected 19 members to become its National Steering Committee (SC). In turn the NDF-SC has elected three members to be the NBD GA members representing Egypt . The GA members have confirmed the selection of the Arab Office for Youth and Environment "AOYE" to continue serving as host and Secretariat for the Egyptian NDF.

Objectives

Objectives are to:

Provide all necessary logistical and technical support for an operationally effective NDF in Egypt . The NDF Steering Committee will be revitalized to ensure a democratic and transparent process of decision making;
Establish a fully functional secretariat (CCI) for the NDF. This will include the hiring of required staff as well as purchase of necessary equipment and facilities;
Strengthen the Local NDFs along the Nile Basin in the different governorates in Egypt;
Establish a mechanism of partnership with governmental agencies to ensure civil society participation in the NBI projects;
Disseminate knowledge about NBD and NBI activities to NDF members and to civil society organizations at large. A number of workshops, seminars and consultations will be organized in different regions of the country;
Produce printed materials to be disseminated to the different stakeholders during different activities across the country;
Design a participatory workplan for the NDF in Egypt for coming milestones of the NBD;
Support community actions and partnerships to reduce poverty in some communities;
Implement a mechanism of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) by NDF members and the CCI through the use of measurable indicators.
